Bio

Curtis Mann is a founding Member of Dawda, Mann, Mulcahy & Sadler, PLC. He concentrates his practice in the areas of business and tax law, and estate planning. Curtis has provided extensive business advice and counsel through the years, representing clients in all aspects of corporate law. He has regularly created and structured corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, and has guided clients through mergers and acquisitions, liquidations, recapitalizations and leveraged buyouts. Curtis has also developed a unique specialty in this area involving medical and health care professionals and their practices. He routinely gives advice on the formation and sale of medical practices which involve the negotiation and implementation of a broad range of agreements. He has also been involved in the creation of physician organizations and the negotiation of many agreements in the managed care arena. Curtis’ tax expertise has allowed him to provide counsel and advice to corporations and their shareholders, individual taxpayers and fiduciaries, and beneficiaries regarding tax planning and compliance. He is routinely asked to provide tax advice in connection with structuring corporate transactions and has appeared before the IRS in connection with the audit of corporate, individual and estate tax returns. He also has a great deal of experience in working with the owners of closely held businesses to plan for a succession of corporate ownership. In the estate planning area, Curtis has significant experience in creating personal planning strategies for the tax-efficient transfer of wealth to successive generations of family members. This involves the use of both traditional estate planning tools, such as revocable living trusts and irrevocable life insurance trusts, as well as more sophisticated planning involving family partnerships and charitable trusts. He also participates in the administration of trusts, estates, and conservatorships. Curtis earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1977. He received his B.B.A. in 1973 and his M.B.A. in 1975, both from the University of Michigan. Curtis is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, and the Oakland County Bar Association.
