Jose Luis Letelier has worked as a lawyer for more than 30 years in Business and Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Competition Law and Foreign Investment. He has actively participated in the incorporation of subsidiaries of foreign companies in Chile, and in numerous acquisitions of companies in Chile, involving both open stock corporations and private companies and asset acquisitions. He also provides corporate and business advice to local subsidiaries of transnational corporations in different areas, such as energy infrastructure, shipping and logistics companies, technology, insurance and financial services, retail, food products, and consumption and distribution. He has led and participated in important M&A transactions, representing: Banmédica S.A. in the joint-venture negotiation with El Pacífico Peruano Suiza Compañía de Seguros y Reaseguros, which involved creating the largest provider of private health services in Peru; AES Gener in the joint-venture negotiation with Antofagasta Minerals for the construction and operation of the Alto Maipo hydroelectric plant project, for US$1,650 million; AES Gener in the joint-venture negotiation with Mitsubishi Corporation for the construction and operation of the Cochrane coal thermoelectric power project, for US$1,300 million; AIMCo (Alberta Investment Management Corporation) in the acquisition of Skanska’s 50% stake in Sociedad Concesionaria Autopista Central, the main private highway in Santiago de Chile, for US$890 million.
