John Flynt is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, and joined the Firm in March 2005. He has a wide range of experience in corporate matters and complex commercial transactions. John focuses his practice on corporate advice to public and private entities, mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, economic development projects, debt and equity financings, commercial real estate, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings. John has significant experience in the manufacturing and project development sectors. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers® in America in the fields of Administrative – Regulatory Law and Corporate Law. Prior to joining Brunini, John held several positions in the legal department of Mississippi Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GRO). As an advisor to senior management and the board of directors, John served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary with full responsibility for the legal affairs of the company, including numerous corporate development matters, bank and bond financings, and capital expansion projects. John also served as the company’s SEC compliance officer and managed the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, including negotiating the company’s credit facilities, assets sales and auctions, bondholder claims, and the sale of the company. John graduated magna cum laude from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University, where he was a Presidential Scholar and a member of the Cumberland Law Review. John was the recipient of Scholar of Merit Awards for Evidence and Constitutional Law, and the faculty named him a Cordell Hull Teaching Fellow. Upon graduation, the Cumberland faculty inducted John into the Curia Honoris society, which is the law school’s highest distinction for academic performance and contributions to the law school.
