Bio

Colleen Byrom is a member of the firm’s Health Care Group. She represents hospitals, pharmacies, durable medical equipment suppliers, home health agencies, and hospice providers in a wide variety of healthcare regulatory matters. She advises clients on laws applicable to state licensing standards; program enrollment, reimbursement and administrative appeal matters; Medicare Conditions of Participation; Medicare and Medicaid coverage requirements; the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark law, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Colleen assists providers in governmental investigations and with various fraud, waste and abuse situations. She also works closely with the members of the B&F Corporate Group to advise on regulatory issues involved in the mergers and acquisitions of various health care providers. Colleen graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences where she was on the Dean’s List several times. In 2014, Colleen graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas with a concentration in Business Law. While in law school, Colleen was an Articles Editor for the Texas Tech University School of Law Administrative Law Journal. Her article, The Need for Speed? The Effects of the new 85 miles per hour Speed Limit on the Texas State Highway 130 Tollway, was published in the online edition of the Texas Tech Administrative Law Journal. She was also a member of the Energy Law Interest Group (ELIG). Colleen is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Amarillo Bar Association and serves on the board for the Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association. She enjoys spending time with her husband, her family, and friends. She is also an avid LSU Tigers fan and enjoys running half marathons, cooking, attending concerts and traveling.
