Bio

Nicole Niessen specialises in education law. She is an experienced adviser and litigator in this field. Nicole leads the Education Law team. She is also part of the Administrative Law team and Privacy team. Nicole advises on matters such as inclusive education (‘passend onderwijs’), admission and removal, examination and certification, privacy, governance, forms of cooperation, co-determination and funding issues. She works for educational institutions from primary to higher education. She also focuses on youth care and child care. She is a member of the Dutch Association for Educational Law in Theory and Practice (NVOR) and the Association for Lawyers and Legal Aid Providers in Education (varO). At NVOR, Nicole co-manages the working group on Governance and Management. She also is a member of the Privacy Law Association (VPR). Nicole studied Dutch law at Maastricht University and obtained her doctorate in law at Leiden University. From 2001 to 2007 she was a university lecturer in constitutional and administrative law at Maastricht University. Nicole became a lawyer in 2007 and has been working at the firm ever since. Nicole’s current additional position includes secretary of the Foundation for Scientific Research Limburg.
