Bio

Ward Davis focuses his practice primarily on various types of business and construction litigation. Licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina, Ward regularly advises and represents clients in both states. He practices in the state and federal courts of North Carolina and South Carolina, including the North Carolina Business Court, and is also a certified mediator in North Carolina. Ward’s trade secret and unfair competition practice often involves competing businesses and covenants not to compete or non-solicitation agreements. Many of these cases are filed in the North Carolina Business Court, where Ward generally has multiple cases pending at any given time. In his construction practice, Ward often represents design professionals or contractors in complex construction litigation. He also regularly defends fellow members of the bar against legal malpractice claims. Ward is active in the bar and the Charlotte community. He is Past Chair of the Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Fund Advisory Board and Past President of the Bobbitt Inn of Court, and also serves on the board of directors of Community Link and the Charlotte Community Board for Lawyers Mutual Insurance, and is an active elder at First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Ward grew up in Winston-Salem, where he attended R.J. Reynolds High School. He subsequently majored in history and earned his teaching certification at Davidson College, where he played football and met his wife, Sally. Before entering law school at the University of North Carolina, Ward taught History and English and coached football and basketball at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, South Carolina. Ward and Sally have two children who keep them grounded and on their toes. Away from the office, he enjoys the outdoors, including fishing and time with his extended family on the Pamlico River in eastern North Carolina. Ward is also an avid runner, and (very) amateur cook and golfer.
