Bio

Jyoti Chakraborty specializes in commercial law, particularly in intellectual property transactions and commercial agreements. She holds both civil and common law degrees and has been called to the Barreau du Québec and the Law Society of Ontario. Her extensive legal training provides her with a solid foundation to advise clients on various cross-border matters. Jyoti has experience both in-house and in private practice. Prior to joining BCF, Jyoti served as in-house counsel to Canada’s largest franchisor and later joined one of Canada’s leading intellectual property firms. In such capacities, she acted on behalf of various clients in commercial matters involving compliance of documents and agreements with franchise law and the drafting thereof, as well as providing clients with advice on how to optimize intellectual property assets to deliver business value in the context of licensing, assignment, financing, research collaborations and joint ventures. On the transactional side, Jyoti has been involved in the intellectual property aspects of numerous M&A transactions, from performing due diligence (both on the buyer’s and seller side) to managing post-closing actions.
