After studying Business Economics at the University of Groningen, Daan started his career at Merrill Lynch & Co. in London and San Francisco. In 2002 he co-founded corporate finance boutique Chestnut. From 2003 to 2008, Chestnut was responsible for the successful restructuring of NPM Capital's Small Caps portfolio. Daan has completed a wide range of acquisitions and financing transactions in the technology, industry and energy sectors, as well as some companies, co-founded and expanded. In 2019, Daan made the switch to Synergia Capital Partners. Daan is responsible for various participations, such as Viscon Group, LOA Full Surface Group and Babbage Company & Loo van Eck.
