Doug Newhouse, Co-Founder and Senior Advisor, has been with Sterling since 1991. Doug serves as a director of AIMS and Ubique Group. Doug is a former director of Aavid Thermal Technologies, American Buildings Company, All My Sons, American West Restaurant Group, Cambridge International, The CBORD Group, Excelligence Learning, GPX International Tire, Intertainer, The Kenan Advantage Group, Miller Heiman, The Parts Plus Group, Shape Technology, and Washington Inventory Service. Prior to that, Doug was a founder and managing director of Middex Capital, a private equity firm focused on middle market companies. Previously, he served as a senior vice president in the corporate finance department of Lehman Brothers. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Doug served as vice president of the Matuschka Group in Munich, West Germany. Doug earned a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. Doug is an Executive Committee Member of both the Naval War College Foundation and IYRS School of Technology and Trades and is the Chairman of the Board of the Newport Historical Society. He is also a member of the Private Equity Council at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Emeritus Advisory Council at Cornell University Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. He previously served for 13 years as the chair of the Investment Committee at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, Connecticut. Doug has also been a guest lecturer on private equity at both the Dyson School at Cornell University and The Booth School at the University of Chicago.
