David Smith Bio

David Smith is a Managing Director in the European Acquisitions team at Starwood Capital. Mr. Smith currently serves as Chief Investment Officer of Echelon Data Centers, a leading European data centre developer and operator, of which Starwood managed vehicles are the majority shareholders. In this role Mr. Smith oversees Echelon’s activities across new acquisitions, debt and equity raising and capital allocation strategies. Prior to this role Mr. Smith was responsible for leading Starwood’s equity investments in the Data Center sector on a Pan-European basis, alongside cross sector investing in the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) region. Mr. Smith was previously a member of the International Capital Markets team at Starwood. Prior to joining Starwood in 2016, Mr. Smith spent five years at Citi, across a number of roles in real estate finance and corporate & investment banking. Mr. Smith received a BSc. (Hons) degree in Economics and Finance from University College Dublin.
