Carl Williams Bio

Carl chairs Sandbrook’s Investment Committee and is a member of the Executive, Performance & Growth, Valuation and Climate Impact & ESG Committees. He sits on the boards of rPlus Energies and Voltwise. Prior to co-founding Sandbrook, he was a partner and co-head of Global Power & Renewables at Riverstone, an energy-focused private equity firm. While at Riverstone, Carl served on multiple firm committees and portfolio company boards of directors, including Enviva and TrailStone. Prior to Riverstone, Carl was a member of the Global Natural Resources team at Goldman Sachs, where he advised clients on strategic and capital markets transactions across the energy, power and renewables sectors. Before joining Goldman, he held positions in engineering, operations and strategic sourcing at Lyondell Chemical Company. Carl earned a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BA in Economics from Rice University, as well as an MBA from Columbia Business School. He currently serves as an energy advisor to Ayata, Inc., a pioneer in the field of Prescriptive Analytics, and is a member of the Leadership Cabinet of Texas Children’s Hospital.
