Brendan McDonagh Bio

Brendan is Chair of PEAL. He is also Deputy Chair of Allied Irish Bank and a Non-Executive Director of Bradford & Bingley Limited and NRAM Limited. Brendan started his banking career with HSBC in 1979 and worked in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. He is the former CEO of HSBC North America, with responsibility for the banking and consumer finance operations in the US and Canada. He was a Group Managing Director for HSBC Holdings Inc and a member of the HSBC Group Management Board. He is also the former Chair & CEO of Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited. Brendan is a former Director of Ireland's National Treasury Management Agency. Brendan currently serves as Chair of the advisory board of the business school of Trinity College, Dublin.
