Sam Stoutner Bio

Sam serves as a Partner and concentrates on NGP’s investment activity within the energy transition. He focuses his efforts in sourcing investments, transaction analysis and execution, as well as the monitoring of active portfolios. Sam is also a member of the NGP Investment Committee, Vice Chair of the NGP Monitoring and Investment Process Committees and the former Chair of the NGP ESG Committee. He joined NGP in 2011. Sam has over a decade of experience sourcing, executing and monitoring investments in the energy sector and has helped to lead investments in numerous current and former NGP portfolio companies. Prior to joining NGP, Sam was an Investment Banking Analyst with Madison Williams and Company’s Energy Investment Banking Group in Houston, where he focused on financing and merger and acquisition transactions in the oil and gas industry. Sam received a B.B.A. and M.P.A. in Accounting, summa cum laude, from The University of Texas at Austin in 2010, where he was elected a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He received an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2016.
