David Sokol Bio

As Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Affairs, David advises on fund formation, new products, and other corporate initiatives. In addition, David regularly collaborates with groups across the Firm, including Investor Relations, People Operations, and the Compliance team, to implement strategic priorities. Prior to joining Harrison Street in 2016, David was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, representing developers, sovereign investors, and institutional owners in joint ventures, acquisitions, portfolio transactions, financings, and mergers. David earned a BA from Emory University and a JD, cum laude, from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. He is admitted to practice in New York and Illinois and is CIPP/US certified. Outside the firm, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Lycée Français de Chicago.
