David Butts Bio

David Butts joined HarbourVest in 2019 and focuses on quantitative research that utilizes the Firm’s proprietary data sets to enhance fundamentally-driven investment processes across the firm. David joined the Firm from Orbital Capital, a quantitative equity hedge fund where he was a quantitative researcher, portfolio manager and co-founder. Prior to working in financial services, he was an applied physicist and aerospace navigation systems engineer at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. David received his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. (magna cum laude) from Williams College.
