Sam Kim is Director of the Portfolio Execution Group at GIC. Sam oversees the Global Trading Unit, Balance Sheet Management Group, Beta and Asset Rebalancing, and Applied Research Unit. Together, the teams are responsible for trading, total portfolio rebalancing, liquidity management, equity beta replication, and securities finance. Sam is a member of the Investment Management Committee, Group Risk Committee, and the Women in GIC Taskforce. Sam joined GIC in 2018 and is based in Singapore. Prior to joining GIC, Sam spent 9 years with BlackRock in Tokyo, San Francisco, and Hong Kong. He was most recently the Asia Pacific Head of Trading & Liquidity Strategies as well as Product Strategy. Sam’s earlier experiences include co-founding Colden Capital, an event-driven hedge fund, and equity derivatives structuring at Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust. Sam holds a Bachelor of Arts, Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude, in Philosophy from Harvard University.
