Lou Friedman founded Flexis Capital in 2009. Prior to joining Flexis, Mr. Friedman was President, Private Equity and Longer-Term Investments at a multi-strategy hedge fund. From 2000 to 2008, Mr. Friedman was at Bear, Stearns & Co. where he served as a Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Global Chairman of Mergers & Acquisitions. He was also a member of the Investment Committee for Bear Stearns Merchant Banking and served on the President's Advisory Council. From 1994 to 2000, Mr. Friedman was a Managing Director at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and built the Media & Communications M&A Group into one of Wall Street's top-ranked teams in the sector. In addition, while at DLJ he worked to source, structure and execute direct investments for DLJ Merchant Banking. Prior to DLJ, Mr. Friedman was at Wasserstein Perella & Co., which he joined at its founding in 1988 from the First Boston Corporation (where he had been in the M&A department). Mr. Friedman received an A.B. with honors and distinction in economics and history from Stanford University in 1983, and a J.D. with honors from Stanford Law School in 1986 and was an editor of The Stanford Law Review. Mr. Friedman has been a committed volunteer for Stanford University (recognized with the Stanford Associates Governor’s Award, co-chaired his 20th, 30th and 40th undergraduate reunion campaigns, participates as a LEAD Council member), and Stanford Law School (serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council for more than 25 years, through seven deans, the Dean’s Circle Leadership Council, the Board of Visitors (including the executive committee) and National Chair of the Law Fund). He is also board co-chair of The 52nd Street Project (not-for-profit theater organization for children in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood), vice chair of the Media, Entertainment & Communications division of UJA Federation of New York, had served for 14 years as a trustee of NYU Langone Health and for 8 years as a board member of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. He is a director of Waterloo Sparkling Water. He and his wife Patrice live in Miami Beach and have two children, Elise and Teddy, and a bearded collie, Jagger. He enjoys playing golf, tennis and running.
