Mark Fowkes Bio

Mark is a senior Director with over 20 years’ experience in the global PPP sector with a highly regarded specialism in the commercial structuring and financing of student accommodation partnerships. Mark’s involvement with financing student accommodation came at the start of his career at RBS where he worked on many of the early student accommodation PPPs in the UK and all the university campus projects in the United Arab Emirate. He successfully transferred these skills to Equitix and has been instrumental in delivering the success of Equitix in the sector. After commercially leading Equitix’s entry into the student accommodation sector with the first University of Essex deal, Mark has bid, won and financially closed numerous projects creating over 14,000 on campus beds in partnership with universities. Having a career across senior debt, public sector and, of course, equity investment markets, Mark is uniquely placed to understand the drives and requirement of all parties to PPP transactions, and successfully brings this empathy to negotiations and structuring. Mark holds an economics degree from the University of Plymouth and a PGCE awarded by Lancaster University.
