Justin Gilson Bio

Justin is a Principal at Building Industry Partners, where he focuses on sourcing, evaluating, executing, and monitoring investments. Prior to joining BIP, Justin founded Backcountry Partners, a growth-oriented private investment firm focused on acquiring lower middle-market businesses. Prior to founding Backcountry, Justin was a Vice President at Transom Capital Group, where he focused on evaluating and executing investment opportunities across a range of sectors. Previously, Justin worked as an investment professional with Compass Diversified Holdings (NYSE: CODI), a publicly traded investment and holding company, with a focus on the industrial and consumer sectors. Justin began his career at UBS Investment Bank, where he focused primarily on mergers and acquisitions and leveraged finance transactions in the Global Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Group. Justin earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Originally from Michigan, Justin lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife and their two daughters.
