Sergio Val Bio

Sergio joined Asterion Industrial Partners in September 2024, bringing with him over 26 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, as well as a strong background in corporate development and finance. Prior to Asterion, Sergio served as CEO of Renewables Europe at Engie, where he managed a portfolio of over 15 GW of capacity across Europe and led the annual deployment of 1 GW of solar and wind energy capacity as well as a material improvement in operational efficiencies. Before this role, he served as Deputy CFO, where he oversaw Corporate Development, Corporate Finance, Energy Risks and Financial Communication. During this time, he led a series of divestment programs totalling €30 billion, including exits from coal, LNG, and E&P activities. He also gained significant expertise in cross-border M&A and corporate development, successfully executing numerous transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Throughout his career, Sergio has executed over 200 transactions worldwide and has held various board positions in energy and trading companies. Sergio holds an MSc in Management and Finance from the University of Nottingham and the University of Zaragoza.
