John has been in the private equity and investment banking industries since 1983, first at a major New York-based investment bank, then from 1990 to 2010 with a Boston-based private equity firm managing over $800 million in capital. He was a founder of Kapstone Paper and Packaging, which was taken public in 2005, and he served as an investor and board member until Kapstone was sold for $4.5 billion in 2018. He is a graduate of Bates College, and received an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
