Thor joined AIIM in 2012 and is responsible for origination, structuring and execution of investment opportunities as well as the performance monitoring and realisation of investments for the IDEAS Fund in the SADC region. His infrastructure investment experience includes transactions, asset management, workouts and exits with a focus on renewable energy and digital infrastructure assets. Thor applies an active management approach in partnership with portfolio company management, focusing on value creation through strategic oversight, operational and financial enhancements and targeted risk management so that assets can deliver or exceed the planned investment case. Thor represents AIIM as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of a number of Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (REIPP) companies including Loeriesfontein, Khobab, Noupoort, Perderkraal East, Kangnas, Kalkbult, Linde and Kakamas Hydro Electric Power Plant; on commercial and industrial renewable energy solutions platform provider SolarAfrica and on MetroFibre Networx, a fibre connectivity provider in South Africa. Prior to joining AIIM, Thor worked in Sydney as an M&A investment banker focused on private equity sponsors and corporates across Australasia. Prior to that, Thor was with KPMG’s Private Equity Group in London where he ran due diligence processes for private equity sponsors in the UK, Europe and the USA in the alternative energy, oil and gas, chemicals, general industrials, healthcare, media and telecoms sectors. Thor completed his articles with the Banking and Capital Markets Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers in London where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Thor also holds a Bachelor of Business Science Honours degree from the University of Cape Town.
