As Head of Sustainability, Tania leads the Sustainability practice, determines and drives the strategy and works to increase the ability of the business to execute on ESG and impact aspects and activities. Since joining AIIM in 2018, she has played an active role in the integration of ESG and impact investing practices into investment decision making, analysing key sustainability risks and unlocking opportunities across our portfolios. Tania supports asset managers and portfolio company management teams in executing on ESG performance and maximising positive impacts. Tania has been a non-Executive Director on the Boards of Renewable Energy Investments South Africa (REISA), Umoya Energy Wind Farm and Cookhouse Wind Farm and serves on the social and ethics sub-committees of several companies. She has over 27 years of sustainability-related experience and prior to joining AIIM, she was a Principal Consultant at Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and served on the Board of Directors at ERM Southern Africa for six years. Her experience in the impact assessment and planning, due diligence and contaminated land arenas provides her with a strong technical background in broad environmental, social, health and safety (ESHS) best practises in the renewable energy, power utilities, oil and gas, mining, industrial and transport sectors. She holds a B.Sc. Hons (Engineering & Environmental Geology) degree from the University of Pretoria and a B.Sc. Hons (Geology & Geohydrology) degree from the University of the Western Cape and is a Registered Professional Natural Scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat).
