Bio

William Surman is a Managing Director of Sucsy, Fischer & Company. He has over 30 years of experience in the securities industry, including mergers and acquisitions, debt & equity capital formation, trading, capital markets and information technology systems. Bill previously worked as Managing Director at Rock Island Securities, the second largest specialist firm on the Chicago Stock Exchange, from 1998 to 2005. At Rock Island Bill: (1) managed twelve roll-up acquisitions, including negotiations, due diligence and acquisition integration; (2) established joint ventures with broker/dealers, market-makers and hedge funds; (3) was responsible for broker/dealer client relationships; (4) designed real-time risk management and execution quality tools; (5) designed a complex automated trading system; and (6) served on several exchange committees, including as chair of the marketing committee. From 1990 to 1998, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Andover Securities Corporation, a specialist firm which operated on the Chicago and Pacific Stock Exchanges, until its sale to Rock Island Securities in 1998. At Andover Securities, Bill managed all financial, operational, administrative and trading support functions as the firm's revenues grew approximately 50% per year. He was the Marketing Director of the Chicago Stock Exchange from 1988-1990, where he developed and refined their product offerings and also served as the staff advisor to the strategic planning committee of the exchange. He also served as the Chief Financial Officer of Transaction Services, Inc., from 1985-1987, which operated on all of the national stock and option exchanges as broker's broker. Bill earned an MBA from the University of Chicago in Finance and Marketing in 1986 and a B.A. from Carleton College in Economics in 1982.
