Mr. Scheerer is Principal and Managing Director at Stonybrook Capital. He founded Stonybrook Capital to build on more than 15 years of experience, relationships and technical skills in insurance, reinsurance and investment banking. Throughout his career, he has worked on some 130 investment advisory assignments in the insurance industry including corporate restructurings, debt/equity/mezzanine capital raises and mergers/acquisitions. Mr. Scheerer began his career at Wall Street investment banking firms and moved to specialist advisory boutiques affiliated with large reinsurance brokers. Notable advisory assignments include: doubling the size of Prime Insurance Company through a mezzanine capital raise; sale of Georgia Casualty Insurance Company for Atlantic American (NASDAQ “AAME”); sale of the renewal rights of PRI’s Pennsylvania subsidiary and sale of Arrowhead General Agency. Since December 2014, Mr. Scheerer has served as a director of Atlantic American Corporation (Nasdaq: AAME), an Atlanta based insurance holding company involved through its subsidiary companies in specialty markets of the life, health, and property and casualty insurance industries. Mr. Scheerer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations.
