Bio

Andrew (Andy) Schmidt is a Managing Director in Seabury Capital focused on private equity investing and asset management. He has 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry, including engineering, management consulting, investment banking and corporate leadership. Prior to joining Seabury, Mr. Schmidt was a Senior Vice President at AAR where he was responsible for its technical support and digital services businesses. He also led AAR’s M&A activities in the areas of technology, software and data analytics. Before AAR, Mr. Schmidt was a Vice President at Macquarie Capital responsible for overseeing principal investments in Aerospace manufacturing, including deal sourcing and asset management. He also served as the CEO of the investment holding company established for these businesses. Prior to Macquarie, Mr. Schmidt was a partner at Oliver Wyman where he led the Aerospace & Defense practice. He was responsible for the practice’s P&L, growth and leadership, including the strategic acquisition of three companies that deepened Oliver Wyman’s expertise in aircraft maintenance management, airline network planning and organizational effectiveness. His primary areas of focus were corporate restructuring, supply chain transformation and start-up support. Throughout his career, Mr. Schmidt has been at the forefront of major industry shifts from the wave of airline restructurings to the start-up and maturation of new digital businesses that are disrupting the status quo of long-standing business practices. Mr. Schmidt is a private pilot and holds a BS degree in aeronautical engineering from Embry-Riddle and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
