Rick is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Portico and based in the US. Rick founded Portico in 2000 and was the firm’s Managing Partner through the end of 2019. He currently serves as Co-Head of the Executive Committee. Rick advises on select US and international transactions where his relationships and experience can best serve the firm’s clients. Rick’s advisory experience spans hundreds of client relationships and transactions ranging in excess of $1 billion to less than $50 million. Before founding Portico, Rick was a Senior Managing Director in Investment Banking with Citigroup Salomon Smith Barney. In the 1990s, he established and led the first group on Wall Street focused exclusively on the Information Services industry. That group served traditional and emerging growth Information Economy companies in the B2B Data, FinTech/Payments, Marketing Database, and Technology BPO sectors – all focused on software, data and/or analytics. Rick holds a dual major BA from the University of Virginia, an MS from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from The Wharton School.
