Reed is chairman of Oaklins International and is a managing partner at Oaklins DeSilva+Phillips in New York, which he co-founded in 1996. Recent deals Reed was involved with include the sale of Purpose, a social impact agency, to Capgemini; the sale of TechMedia, a conference business, to RLJ Equity Partners; the acquisition of Kiplinger, a digital newsletter company, by Exponent; the sale of Best Version Media, a hyper-local media company, to Bertram Capital; the sale of NewPoint Media, a publisher of print and digital real estate guides, to Pez Gallo Holdings; the acquisition of Essence, the leading African-American digital, events and print media company in the US, from Time Inc. for Essence Ventures; and the sale of ASI Government, a provider of subscription research, information and education resources, to Compusearch. Before working as an investment banker for the past 29 years, Reed was previously in magazine and newspaper publishing as CEO and co-founder of Fathers Magazine, associate publisher of The New Republic, vice president of The Washington Weekly and circulation director of The Washington Monthly.
