José Guillermo is a partner at Axia, Oaklins’ member firm in Colombia. With over 13 years of investment banking experience, he has led and executed M&A, capital raising, corporate finance and project finance transactions worth more than US$5 billion. His key areas of expertise are in consumer & retail, energy and financial services. Transactions he has worked on include advising Altra, Mercantil Colpatria, SCL Energía Activa and Colfondos on the acquisition of Termoyopal S.A.; Gyptec on its sale to Knauf, and Mineros S.A. on its acquisition of Hemco. More recently, José Guillermo has been involved in deals with Justo & Bueno, a Colombian hard discount food retailer; Alqueria, a Colombian dairy leader; and Rentandes, a leading company in Colombia’s leasing industry. Before joining Axia in 2008, José Guillermo completed an internship at a local boutique investment banking firm. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the Universidad de los Andes.
