Bio

Elliot Evers co-founded MVP Capital in 1987 and currently oversees the firm’s Media Group. Under his leadership, MVP has built significant, long-lasting relationships within the media industry—some lasting more than 20 years—and managed deal volume in excess of $3.5 billion. The first factor in building relationships for Elliot is being knowledgeable about what’s happening in the space and being a thought leader clients will want to turn to as they make decisions. Elliot also insists on always asking how he can add value for the client. “If you are not adding value,” he said, “the client has no reason to turn to you.” And, third, always put the relationship ahead of any potential fee. “This is paramount,” Elliot said, “and it will set the stage to build the kind of decades-long relationship we have with many of our clients.” One of Elliot’s key transactions was working with Jim and John Levitt (Coast Broadcasting), who owned KEZR/KBAY in San Jose for many years. MVP sold those stations for them and then represented them as they rolled the proceeds from that sale into three stations that encircle the Bay Area. Elliot and MVP then assisted them with a recapitalization of the company, and, in 2015, sold those three stations for them. According to Elliot, “if you act with integrity, and provide outstanding service and guidance, clients will return to you again and again. That is the most gratifying part of what we do.” Elliot and MVP have maintained a relationship with the Levitts for more than 20 years. Elliot’s most recent deals include KPRI FM in San Diego, The Qantum-WALK- Connoisseur three-way swap (with Bill Fanning, who led that deal). Elliot is a thought leader in the media industry when it comes to the upcoming FCC Incentive Auctions. He has moderated a panel on the auctions for four consecutive years at the Kagan TV and Radio Summit. Outside the office, Elliot serves on the Board of Directors of Greenbelt Alliance, an open-space advocacy organization working to promote smart development in the nine Bay Area counties. Elliot received a B.A. in Journalism from the University of California at Berkeley; a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law, University of California; and a Diplome Semestriel from The University of Paris. He is fluent in French, and comfortable in Spanish. He carries both a US and French passports.
