Clayton is a Managing Director in MVP Capital’s Towers Group and has been with the company since 2004. With client relationships dating back to 1997, Clayton has personally closed over 125 deals including mergers and acquisitions, sale-leasebacks and private debt and equity capital placements totaling in excess of $1.5 billion of value. One of Clayton’s favorite aspects of the shared wireless infrastructure industry is the chance to close multiple transactions for the same sellers as they organically develop more assets and sell them off few years. “There are some clients we’ve closed over five transactions for over the years,” Clayton said. It’s the relationships that make this possible. Clayton’s approach to clients is being authentic, striving diligently to secure and keep a client’s trust, and by being accessible to be a dependable industry resource and advisor. “MVP’s clients want to know we understand their business – the rewards and the challenges – and can provide astute guidance on how to maximize the rewards while also reducing any challenges,” Clayton said. “Being able to create life-changing, and sometimes generational-changing wealth, for those clients and at prices that stunned them based on their expectations, are some of my most rewarding memories. And, it’s just as rewarding today, whether it is the first or fifth deal for a client. Being able to help clients negotiate a successful transaction at or above their price expectation never gets old.” A few of Clayton’s recent transactions include closing on: a 10 tower broadcast site deal for Tall Tower Capital; a more than 220-site deal for a repeat MVP client, Central States Tower; a multi-tower broadcast tower site located in Boulder, CO; and a 15 site deal for a repeat MVP client, Clear Signal Tower. Clayton is also very active in the towers industry. Shortly after beginning his career in the late mid-1990s, Clayton was asked to speak on a tower finance panel at a conference in New York. Since then, he has been asked to participate on or moderate panels at state-level, regional and national conferences on the topic of shared wireless infrastructure. Prior to joining MVP, Clayton worked at Nations Media Partners, a Kansas City-based investment banking firm specializing in various areas of telecommunications, media, and publishing, for seven years. Clayton graduated cum laude from Washburn University with a Bachelors of Arts in Communications and has been honored as an Alumni Fellow.
