Bio

Brian Pryor is a Managing Director and the CFO of MVP Capital and has been with the company since 2002. In 2009, as Managing Director, he founded MVP’s Technology Group. One of Brian’s first assignments from 2009 is still an active client today. One way Brian builds relationships is by visiting clients in-person, regardless of their location, and being proactive with ideas, updates and introductions. “I would say I’ve built relationships by being thoughtful and hard-working,” said Brian. “I haven’t really won business by being a self-promoter or salesman. I only recently learned how to play golf and had my first two ever business golf outings in 2015.” Brian also shared that he became great friends with a client in 2006 and they recently spent a week cycling around the Rocky Mountains together. Since 2009, Brian has been involved in every deal that comes out of the Tech group at some level – it’s proof of MVP’s team approach – and Brian was recently the lead banker on the 2015 Denovo and FiberCloud transactions. He also led the MVP transactions StratITsphere and NetRiver last year. Brian said he and his team are particularly proud of the unique aspects of their deals, whether it’s speed to closing, thoughtful positioning of the company, creative capital structures, or other factors distinct to the client. Within the technology industry, Brian speaks at conferences each year and has spoken at shows sponsored by IMN and The 451 Group. He has also been quoted in publications including The Wall Street Journal, The Deal and Dealreporter. Brian began his investment banking career in the Technology group of Alex. Brown & Sons in 1996. Brian’s only detour from investment banking was during the dot.com boom in the late 90s, which included a stint at Beyond.com. While Beyond was known by many as an online retailer of software (they had a relatively famous commercial where a guy bought software at home, online, while naked), the core of the business was actually “outsourced eCommerce.” Essentially, they designed, built and hosted websites in addition to handling all product fulfillment (physical and virtual), online marketing campaigns and customer support. Brian ran stores for companies like Microsoft and McAfee. Brian has over 16 years of transaction experience, has been involved in more than 100 M&A and capital raising transactions and has worked with industry-leading public and private companies and entrepreneurs. Brian received a B.S. in Finance and Economics, Summa Cum Laude, from Boston College.
