Andy Crain brings to Mirus a diverse skillset of transactional, executive and legal acumen. Andy is an experienced dealmaker, and his prior experience as a family business owner gives him a unique vantage point from which to successfully guide clients through the financial, operational and emotional aspects of the transaction process. An investment banker since 2005, Andy provides merger & acquisition and corporate finance advisory services to owners of consumer products, food & beverage, business & industrial services, manufacturing and distribution companies throughout New England and nationwide. He is a trusted senior advisor to closely-held corporations and family businesses, with significant experience executing sell-side and buy-side M&A, leveraged buyouts, and private placements of debt and equity. Andy is experienced in all phases of deal making, from valuing businesses to orchestrating confidential auction processes, structuring transactions and shepherding deals to successful closings. A lawyer by training, Andy left a successful law practice to become the fifth-generation owner and CEO of his family’s food manufacturing business, The Whipple Company, which he led for more than a decade and then sold in 2004 before making the transition to investment banking. He began his career in 1987 as an attorney at Foley Hoag LLP, where he represented and advised clients in negotiating and closing many mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. His legal practice also included private placements of equity and debt financings; initial public offerings and securities registrations; and venture capital fund formations and portfolio company investments. Andy has been a featured presenter about his experiences owning and advising family businesses, speaking and writing for organizations including the Northeastern University Center for Family Business, the UMass Family Business Center, the Exit Planning Exchange, and the Association for Corporate Growth.
