Tom gravitates toward smaller, entrepreneurial businesses; he runs one himself. In 2003 he had a vision for a new and different kind of accounting firm, one that would provide part-time, cost effective accounting and finance solutions to small business owners. Under Tom’s leadership, mAccounting has been a pioneer in the outsourced accounting industry and today provides a suite of services to help entrepreneurs across the country get the experience and insight they need to be successful. Prior to launching mAccounting, Tom spent 14 years in the technology industry as a CFO and Controller, deepening his expertise in accounting and financial management. In addition to his technology background, Tom has extensive experience in a wide variety of service businesses. He has a passion for working with entrepreneurs, and is skilled at building strategic financial road maps and custom dashboards that propel companies upward. He’s also a self-professed Excel geek. Tom has been CFO at Escient and Cybo Robots; Chief Accounting Officer at Compression, Inc.; Accounting Officer at NBD Bank and Senior Accountant at Price Waterhouse. As a small business CFO, he helped raise more than $150 M in growth capital – including equity capital, mezzanine funding, bank financing, equipment financing and government research financing. Tom also held intern positions at the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. The Indianapolis Business Journal identified him as a leader to watch in their 40 Under 40 list. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in business administration, and is a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Tom is a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoys traveling and taking landscape photographs.
