Bio

Todd Carter is Co-CEO of GCA USA, Co-Founder and a Board Member of GCA. Over the past 25 years, Todd and the teams he has led have advised on more than 800 mergers and acquisitions, financings, takeover defenses, leveraged buyouts, divestures, leveraged recapitalizations, joint ventures, stock buybacks and restructurings. His clients have included Amdocs, Apple, Applied Materials, AT&T, AutoDesk, CA, Cognizant, Concur, Dell, eBay, Expedia, E*Trade, Gartner, Gilead, HCA, Infosys, Juniper, Legendary Pictures, McAfee, Microsoft, News Corp, NVIDIA, Pixar, Priceline, Simon Property, Symantec, Thomson Reuters and Yahoo. Todd previously served as Chairman and President & CEO of both Savvian and Perseus Group, predecessors of GCA. Prior to 2003, Todd was the President of Robertson Stephens & Company Inc., a global investment banking and asset management firm, and served on the firm’s Board of Directors. Before serving as President, he held several leadership roles including Head of Global Corporate and Investment Banking, a division that generated over $1B in annual revenue during his tenure. Prior to that, Todd served as Head of Global Technology Investment Banking and Head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he was employed by McKinsey & Company. Over the past two decades, Todd has been actively involved as an early-stage and growth investor primarily focused on the technology industry; he has invested in over 100 companies, several of which he co-founded. He has served on a number of public and private company boards, as well as advisory and non-profit boards. In the non-profit area, Todd is presently serving on UCSF’s Board of Overseers and the boards of EducationSuperHighway and The Conservation Fund. Other selected involvement includes serving as chairman of OneD Material, a Nanowire-material high-performance battery company, and on advisory boards, such as Foresite Capital and Victory Park Capital. Todd graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
