Bio

John Taylor joined Fieldstone in July 2002. Since then he has worked on projects in the power and infrastructure industries and has in-depth experience in cross-border project finance, privatizations, asset sales and acquisitions. He is an accomplished power sector financial modeler, with extensive knowledge on the dynamics of power and commodity prices and the effects of regulatory action. His most recent Southern African experience includes: advising EDM on equity structuring, Exxaro on its cogeneration portfolio, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa and Eskom on means to develop the cogeneration sector, NamPower on its corporate capital raising, Globeleq on its investment in the Sidi Krir CCGT plant in Egypt, Grown Energy on its development of a bioethanol facility in Mozambique. Sumitomo Corporation and Rainmaker Energy on the 100MW Dorper Wind Farm, Google on their 1st renewable investment in Africa, Total on its bid into Round 3 of the REIPPP programme and Rainmaker Energy on the sale of the DNA Wind Farm to Biotherm. Recent European experience includes advising GAMA on its sale of 40% of its holding in the Tynagh CCGT in the Republic of Ireland, Osaka Gas on its investment in the Amorebieta CCGT in Spain as well as Fortress on its proposed investment in the Fiddler’s Ferry and Ferrybridge coal-fired power stations. Earlier John was part of the team advising Teesside Power Limited (1875MW CCGT plant) on its proposed restructuring and was a member of the team advising Goldman Sachs on its proposed investment in the Drax coal-fired power station and 9 other UK IPPs as well as the government of Jordan on the development of the Samra IPP. John holds a 1st Class Bachelor of Business Science in Economics from the University of Cape Town and is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst qualification.
