Bio

Graham Copeland is a Managing Director of Evercore’s corporate advisory business, specialising in financial services, based in London. Mr. Copeland has advised on a broad range of transactions in the financial services industry including in the life assurance, insurance broking, bank and building society, and specialty finance sectors. Prior to Evercore, Mr. Copeland was a Partner of Lexicon Partners, the corporate finance advisory business which was acquired by Evercore in 2011. Before joining Lexicon in 2006, he worked in the Financial Institutions Group at Goldman Sachs in London. Selected transactions on which Mr Copeland has advised include the acquisition by AIA of CBA’s life insurance operations in Australia and New Zealand, the sale of Zenith to Bridgepoint, the merger of R K Harrison with Hyperion, the equity and debt recapitalisation of Towergate, the acquisition of MCB Finance by International Personal Finance, the acquisition of Travelex by Dr BR Shetty, the sale of Moneybarn to Provident Financial, the acquisition of ING Malaysia by AIA, Prudential on the acquisition of SRLC America from Swiss Re, the acquisition of Quilter & Co by Bridgepoint Private Equity, and the sale of NCB Stockbrokers to Investec. In the banking and building society sectors, Mr. Copeland has advised on numerous transactions including Prudential on the sale of Egg to Citigroup, Yorkshire Building Society on its merger with Norwich & Peterborough, Stroud & Swindon Building Society on its merger with Coventry, Chelsea Building Society on its merger with Yorkshire, Newcastle Building Society on a capital restructuring and West Bromwich Building Society on the conversion of its subordinated debt into PPDS. Mr. Copeland has a first class degree in Economics and Management from Oxford University.
