Bio

Cyrille Cotte is a London-based Managing Director of Evercore’s European financial institutions group. Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Cotte was a Senior Director in the EMEA Financial Institutions Group of Citigroup in London, and he previously worked for Macquarie, Fox-Pitt, Kelton, and Ernst & Young in London and Paris. With over 15 years of investment banking, capital raising, and transaction advisory experience in the financial institution sector, Mr. Cotte has advised on a broad range of strategic and cross-border transactions for leading global and European insurance and banking clients including Achmea, Aegon, Allianz, Aviva, Axa, Dexia, Fortis, KBC, Metlife, NN, Tokio Marine, and Zurich. In addition, Mr. Cotte also brings extensive experience in the fast-growing pension buyout and bulk annuity sector in the UK. Some of Mr. Cotte’s notable transactions include advising NN and ASR on the sales of their preference shares back to Unilever; Achmea on the sale of Friends First to Aviva; Aegon on the sale of its $12 billion block of annuities to Rothesay and Legal & General; Legend Holding on its acquisition of a stake in Pension Insurance Corporation; NLFI on the IPO of ASR Nederlands through privatization; ING Groep on the IPO of Nationale Nederlanden; Aviva and Sabanci on the IPO of AvivaSA; Allianz on the acquisition of Yapi Kredi Insurance (which included the signing of a long-term exclusive distribution agreement); AXA on the acquisition of HSBC’s P&C Asian and Latin American operations (which also included the signing of a long-term exclusive distribution agreement); KBC on the sale of its $9 billion US life settlement portfolio to Fortress; E-Trade on the sale of E-Trade International to TD Ameritrade and Saxo Bank; Dexia on the sale of Dexia Epargne Pension to BNP Paribas; Tokio Marine on the acquisition of Kiln; and Fortis Group on the acquisition of ABN Amro. Mr. Cotte has a Masters in Management from EDHEC Business School in Lille, France.
