Michael Collier is a managing director in the Transaction Advisory Services practice, based in Houston, Texas. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy, oilfield services and chemical sectors. Michael specializes in buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence as well as financial operations support for corporations and private equity-backed management teams in the oil and gas arena. He has worked with a variety of public and privately- owned companies, financial institutions, and private equity firms, including Goldman Sachs Investment Partners, Riverstone, First Reserve, SCF Partners, TPG, Morgan Stanley, ArcLight, Duetsche Bank, Shell, BP, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, National Oilwell Varco, Cameron, FMC Technologies, Itochu, Mitsubishi, The Shaw Group, KBR, and Koch Industries. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Michael launched his own financial consulting practice, where he advised management teams in the oil and gas sector. Earlier in his career, he was recruited by Goldman Sachs Investment Partners to serve as the CFO of Layline Petroleum, which he helped monetize. Michael spent over 20 years at PwC, where he was a partner and head of the U.S. Energy Transaction Services practice and a leader in the firm’s Houston energy practice. He began his career as a Landman in Exxon’s Gulf Coast Division. Michael received his MBA and BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
