Bio

Michael joined Covington Associates in 2004. He has advised numerous privately held, publicly traded, and family owned businesses and has assisted them to evaluate their strategic alternatives, raise capital, and execute mergers, acquisitions, sales, divestitures, management buyouts, recapitalizations and fairness opinions. He is a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs, families, and boards of directors who rely on his advice in connection with their long term strategic planning as it relates to value enhancement, financing, liquidity events, and other strategic options for their business. His areas of industry expertise include Analytical Instrumentation, Consumer Products, Healthcare Services, Medical Devices, Real Estate Services, Specialty Manufacturing, and Transportation & Logistics. Michael has executed scores of transactions throughout his career. He has published numerous articles and has lectured frequently on a variety of M&A related topics such as going private transactions, valuation in an M&A context, effective acquisition strategies, and preparing your company for a sale. Prior to joining Covington, Michael was a founding officer and Managing Director of Fleet M&A Advisors, a division of FleetBoston Corporation. He was responsible for developing and executing M&A and other advisory assignments for the bank’s clients in the Technology, Transportation, Environmental, Energy, Industrial Growth, Financial Sponsor, and Middle Market franchises. Michael joined Fleet M&A Advisors from Robertson Stephens where he focused on the IT Services, e-finance and Industrial Growth sectors. Prior to that, he was a Director of Corporate Finance in the Boston office of KPMG, providing M&A and Private Placement services to clients in the healthcare services sector. Michael received a BA in Economics, cum laude, from Villanova University and his MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
