Bio

Chris founded Covington Associates in 1991. He has over 40 years experience in mergers & acquisitions and investment banking at some of the country’s leading financial institutions. This weight of experience and highly developed contact base are powerful assets in the M & A process. Chris has advised on hundreds of transactions to both public and privately held companies as well as family run businesses. He has significant expertise in the healthcare and technology sectors. Chris has led numerous strategic mergers and acquisitions with healthcare companies in the diagnostics, disease management, medical devices and healthcare informatics fields. Chris has established a long standing relationship with Inverness Medical Innovations Inc., a major global developer, manufacturer and marketer of advanced, pioneering consumer and professional medical diagnostic products, and has advised Inverness on close to 30 transactions totaling more than $6 billion in transaction value over the past decade. Before founding Covington Associates, Chris was a co-founder and managing partner of Volpe & Covington, a full service technology- and healthcare-focused investment banking firm based in San Francisco. Previously, Chris was a Managing Partner at Robertson, Coleman & Stephens, a prominent technology and health care investment banking firm, also based in San Francisco. Before Robertson, Chris spent roughly 15 years at Shearson/American Express, and its predecessor companies, in New York City. In his last position at Shearson, Chris served as Head of Industrial (generalist) Investment Banking. He is a graduate of Williams College and Harvard Business School.
