Bio

Nick Reid joined Centerview Partners in 2014 to build Centerview’s client base in the UK and provide advice to Centerview’s clients, both US and European, in European situations. Nick joined from UBS where he led the UK investment banking business before going on to be co-head of the European business. Prior to UBS, Nick was at Goldman Sachs in London where he led the UK investment banking business. Nick has spent some 20 years advising UK companies both on day-to-day matters and on strategic transactions. He has advised companies across a wide spectrum of different industries and in a broad mix of types of transaction and across geographies and jurisdictions. Nick’s clients and some transactions have included: Cadbury’s (the sale of Orangina Schweppes in the UK and France, the sale of Schweppes Australia, the demerger of DSPU into the US and the defense of Cadbury from the hostile bid by Kraft), Diageo (the acquisition of Mey Icky in Turkey, Ketel 1 in the Netherlands, Shui Jing Fang in China, USL in India), Unilever (Alberto Culver in the US and an increased stake in Hindustan Lever in India), Kingfisher (sale of Castorama in Italy), BAT (the acquisition of Bentoel in Indonesia, the merger of Lorillard and Reynolds American in the US), Land Securities (rights issue and sale of Trillium), British Airways (merger with Iberia), Mitchells & Butlers (defense against hostile bid), The Co-operative Group and The Co-operative Bank (the restructuring and rescue of the bank and the sale of Co-operative Pharmacies). Nick holds a degree in Economics and Politics from Bristol university and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.
