Bio

Yawar Murad is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in London. Mr. Murad specializes in providing technology advice to private equity (PE) funds and their portfolio companies. His primary areas of concentration are technology and operational due diligence, carve-outs, 100-day plans, assessing synergies, technology-enabled cost reduction and turnarounds. With more than 20 years of technology experience, Mr. Murad leverages his extensive experience of the PE investment lifecycle to help clients pragmatically optimise their technology choices and investments. Mr. Murad has worked across many sectors, with a particular focus in technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) and industrial manufacturing. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Murad was a Partner at Ernst & Young (EY) in the Transaction Advisory Services practice in London. At EY, he was responsible for building and leading the largest technology due diligence and PE value creation team in Europe. Prior to that, Mr. Murad served PE clients as a Senior Director at A&M. In the past, Mr. Murad served as Global CIO of the Life Sciences division of General Electric (GE), a rapidly growing multi-billion-dollar revenue equipment and bio-intermediates provider to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. There, he was accountable for driving operational transformation using lean and streamlining processes by driving the effective adoption of technology globally across the business, and for effective technology integration of various acquisitions. Prior to GE, Mr. Murad served as head of transformation at Lloyds TSB Bank plc, where he led a cross-functional team of senior IT leaders in the Group IT function of 3,000+ resources, driving transformational change in project delivery processes and capabilities. In parallel, he led the offshore transition of the first material offshoring engagement at Lloyds TSB. Earlier, he served as the CIO for the U.K. life insurance business at GE Capital. Mr. Murad earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from Cass Business School at City University in London. A U.K. national, he is fluent in English and Urdu/Hindi.
