Bio

Timothy Mahapatra is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in London with responsibility for leadership of strategy and corporate development for A&M Europe. Mr. Mahapatra has significant M&A experience having worked for Deloitte and the predecessor firm Arthur Andersen since 1987 becoming a partner in 1996. Mr. Mahapatra has had a focus on M&A transaction services since 2004 having previously been an audit partner. He has worked on a significant number of large complex transactions serving both private equity and corporate clients covering a range of sectors including marketing services, consumer businesses, real estate and hospitality and retail. Over his career, Mr. Mahapatra has held many senior client leadership roles serving clients such as WPP Group plc, Hinduja Group, Temasek, Terra Firma Capital Partners, 3i Group, KKR, Permira and Charme Capital. He also was involved in some of the large early outbound M&A transactions by Chinese companies such as Geely Motor's acquisition of Volvo Cars and Bright Foods acquisition of Weetabix. Before joining A&M, Mr. Mahapatra was the Global Managing Director for Financial Advisory at Deloitte for four years which is a business of over $3 billion of revenue with around 18,000 professionals worldwide and was a member of Deloitte's Global Executive. Prior to this, for four years he was the Managing Partner for Deloitte's U.K./ Swiss Financial Advisory business and was a member of Deloitte's U.K. Executive. From 2004 to 2009 he ran the U.K. M&A Transaction services business at Deloitte. Mr. Mahapatra has considerable experience of developing and leading businesses internationally having led the successful development of Deloitte's Financial Advisory businesses in markets such as India, the Middle East, Switzerland and China. Mr. Mahapatra is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and earned an MBA from Manchester Business School.
