Bio

Omar Mata is a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in Dallas. He specializes in developing and executing finance and accounting strategies, implementing digital finance solutions, improving close processes, enhancing management and external reporting, and improving cash flow forecasting and liquidity. Mr. Mata has advised CFOs on finance transformation projects in more than 20 countries, and has worked with clients across various industries including retail, consumer, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, telecommunications and technology. Mr. Mata brings deep experience in optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of finance and accounting functions. He advises companies on how to improve their performance through improved forecasting capabilities, process automation, technology integration, acceleration of close and consolidation processes, and improved reporting for decision-making. Mr. Mata’s notable assignments include: leading the FP&A transformation of a global retailer by implementing new processes, technologies and change management; managing the finance and accounting transformation of a multi-billion company; overseeing the global finance shared services design and implementation of a multi-billion dollar retail and communications company; managing the CFO strategy and roadmap execution for a leading private retailer; providing a predictive forecasting model implementation for a large technology and banking firm. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Mata spent 15 years at Deloitte Consulting U.S., where he was a Partner for the last six years. One of his most significant achievements during this time was creating and leading the Finance Transformation practice in South America. Previously, he was also a Director of Finance at a Fortune 10 organization. Mr. Mata earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from ITESM - Monterrey Tech and an MBA from Texas Christian University, with a concentration in international finance.
