Bio

Nandini Chopra is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Finance in Mumbai, India. She brings more than 24 years of experience in M&A, sales and divestitures, JV advisory, PE raises, IPOs, debt syndication and valuations . Ms. Chopra has experience in various advisory sectors including sale-side advisory, financing, acquisition and merger advisory services. Her notable experiences include the sale of a leading Indian food ingredients business to IMCD India Private Limited, a subsidiary of IMCD N.V., Netherlands; sale of Unify’s India business (enterprise communications) to Progility, UK; sale of majority stake in an Indian luxury eyewear business to Marchon US; sale of Fem Care to Dabur; sale of Parry Confectionery to Lotte, Korea; sale of Genteel and Swastik brands to Godrej Consumer. She has showcased her expertise in fundraising from private equity funds for Prabhat Dairy and Sula Wines; ongoing fundraising for a leading poultry and feed company in India, an express logistics company, a haircare company, among others, acquisition of a shipbuilding business by the Goa-based Dempo Group; Hitachi’s acquisition of stake from Tata Motors in Telcon; advisory support work for Reckitt Benckiser on Paras Pharma; led Godrej’s acquisition of Keyline Brands UK; led Fonterra New Zealand’s acquisition of Britannia’s dairy business; advised Acraf / Angelini (Italy) on the acquisition of a stake in Elder Pharmaceuticals; and Tata Metalik’s acquisition of Usha Ispat’s distressed assets and the merger of ACC with Holcom; of Satyam Computer with Tech Mahindra. In the space of strategic merger management, Ms. Chopra assisted the merger of Ispat with JSW; consolidation of Vedanta group companies and merger of Reliance Natural Resources with Reliance Power. Prior to joining A&M in 2014, Ms. Chopra spent 15 years with KPMG India in the Corporate Finance practice, where she most recently served as Partner. In her tenure at KPMG, she successfully closed marquee cross border transactions, PE raises, India entry assessment and partner search assistance, and JV negotiations assistance across sectors. Ms. Chopra also set up and led KPMG’s India Valuations practice for more than five years until 2013; and has done valuations across sectors and clients covering M&A valuations, financial reporting, litigation and dispute valuations, tax and regulatory valuations and PE portfolios. Prior to KPMG, she spent five years with SBI Capital Markets, the investment banking arm of India’s largest commercial bank, State Bank of India. At SBI Capital Markets, she worked on large capital market raises including IPOs and rights issuances and debt syndication. Ms. Chopra earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from BITS Pilani, India, in 1991, and earned a 1993-batch MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, India.
