Bio

Age Lindenbergh co-heads Alvarez & Marsal in the Benelux and is a Leader of the European Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group. Age also leads their Financial Services transactions team in Europe. He has more than 20 years of experience advising financial institutions on transaction, regulatory and strategic issues. During that time he worked on over 300 transactions with an overall deal value of well in excess of USD130bn. Mr. Lindenbergh specializes in developing customized solutions that address complex acquisition, disposal and restructuring situations. He draws on an in-depth understanding of the European market for mergers and acquisitions of financial institutions and the associated regulatory environment. Mr. Lindenbergh has worked both as an advisor and as a CFO of listed and private companies where significant change is required. Since the start of the financial crisis, he has been heavily involved in the restructuring of banks across Europe, providing support on some of the most prominent State Aid restructuring situations in The Netherlands, Ireland and Cyprus. In addition, Mr. Lindenbergh has worked extensively with international corporates and private equity firms across a wide range of industries, including energy, consumer products and retail. He is known for his expertise in assessing historical and projected financial performance, key business drivers, synergy and cost savings initiatives, and carve-out considerations. Before joining A&M, he served as a senior transactions and restructuring partner at KPMG in Europe, working with financial sponsors and financial institutions, leading restructuring engagements and supporting banks and insurers with their capital planning. He also held various senior management roles both locally and at an international level and was amongst others member of the Global Leadership Team for Financial Services. Mr. Lindenbergh qualified as an accountant and earned a master’s degree in business economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and the London School of Economics. He has been an executive fellow to the Duisenberg School of Finance and holds several non-executive roles at charitable organizations. He is fluent in Dutch and English. Mr. Lindenbergh’s studies and articles have been published in various leading financial journals both within The Netherlands and abroad. His analyses on the impact of regulation on the Dutch financial sector and the role of the financial sector and the Amsterdam stock exchange to the wider economy, has helped inform debate and discussion in the Dutch parliament and among other European governing bodies.
