Bio

Shmulik Zysman is one of Israel’s foremost-distinguished lawyers and a founder of the international law firm ZAG. Shmulik has earned his longstanding reputation in supporting Hi Tech and Life Sciences companies through all stages, from pre-seed through growth to IPOs and mergers or acquisitions. Shmulik’s practice includes a vast experience in negotiating mergers and acquisitions (public and private); domestic and cross-border corporate transactions; representation of private equity investors and family investment offices; securities offerings; private and public financings and real estate. He has counseled clients on significant transactional matters across a number of practice areas and industry sectors. His clients benefit from his rich experience, broad network of connections and business oriented perspective. Throughout his professional career, Shmulik was appointed to serve as legal counsel in numerous governmental committees such as the Peled Committee, whose goal was to examine the media and communications market and to create an “Open Sky” principle, and the Ronen Committee – which examined the reforms in government-owned properties. He is also serving as an arbitrator at The Israeli Institute of Commercial Arbitration since its establishment in 1991 and is the President of the Maccabi World Union Court of Honor. Shmulik is an accomplished and recognized basketball player in Israel’s Hall of Fame with a record of 17 years in the Israeli Basketball Primer League. He is a former basketball player of the Israeli national team and is known for winning the 1981 European championship with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He is the founder and former head of the Israeli National Basketball Players’ Union and was the initiator and planner of the amendment to the Israeli Sports Law. Following the footsteps of his late father, Shalom Zysman, a former Member of the Knesset, Chairman of Maccabi Israel and of the Israeli Olympic Committee, Shmulik is also an active volunteer in many community-oriented organizations. Amongst his pro bono and community activities, Shmulik founded the Israeli Center for Rett Syndrome (“Silent Angel”) and he is the chairman of the center that helps those who suffer from the syndrome and support their families. He is also one of the founders and a board member of “Lev Ohev”, an association helping children with special needs and a board member at the Ramon Foundation (in the memory of Ilan, Assaf and Rona Ramon). In 2012, Shmulik received the Community Support Grant Award from LYONS, an international Community Foundation.
