Fourd Kemper focuses on mergers and acquisitions, venture and seed capital financing, securities, licensing and other intellectual property matters, and the representation of high-tech entrepreneurs. He is chair of the Emerging Growth practice group. Fourd’s work in Woods Rogers’ business group also includes general commercial, real estate transactions, and contractual matters. Fourd has significant experience representing public companies, including serving for six years as general counsel of Luna Innovations Incorporated, a public technology company based in Roanoke. He has worked with venture capital investments, representing both technology companies raising funds and representing venture capital firms and other industrial investors. In addition, Fourd has experience in negotiating IP and confidentiality provisions for government contractors and sub-contractors. He is Vice-Chair of the Virginia Bar Association’s Business Law Section Council and previously served as chairman of the Business Section of the Virginia State Bar. Fourd is a member of the GO Virginia Region 2 Council and is the Co-Chair of its Emerging Tech cluster workgroup. He is the former Chair of the Board of Trustees for North Cross School. His community service has included serving on the boards of Downtown Roanoke Inc., Opera Roanoke, and the Roanoke Valley Greenway Commission, as well as serving as President for Pathfinders for Greenways, Inc. He also served on the Vision 2001-2020 Advisory Committee (as Environmental Resources Chair) for the Roanoke City Vision 2001-2020 Comprehensive Plan. The Roanoke native graduated from Duke University and earned his law degree at the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the editorial board of Virginia Law Review.
