Jonathan Cohen Bio

Jonathan Cohen uses his deep knowledge of the legal, regulatory, political, and public policy landscape in the tech, media, and telecom (TMT) fields to help clients manage business risk, develop advocacy strategies in administrative and court proceedings, and negotiate and close transactions. His clients range from innovative start-ups to leading companies, as well as firms that finance them, for whom he achieves positive results by drawing on his extensive experience in leading TMT public policy issues. Jonathan counsels and advocates for clients in a variety of mass media and telecom areas, as well as on issues in the emerging areas of online content regulation and artificial intelligence. For most of his career, Jonathan has been in private law practice, but he also has spent time in government (at the FCC and The White House), on political campaigns, and in the media. Prior to his early-career pivot into law, Jonathan worked as a radio news reporter in New York City. Jonathan co-chairs the Emerging Issues in Technology committee of the FCBA-The Tech Bar® and he frequently speaks in educational settings and at industry gatherings. He has been named to the Best Lawyers® list and was singled out for nationwide recognition for “outstanding service” on corporate and commercial transactions. He also is perennially selected as a Washington D.C. SuperLawyer and holds the Martindale Hubbell AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating. Jonathan devotes time to pro bono legal matters and volunteer activities, primarily in the areas of criminal justice and responsible tech, and he has been named multiple times to the D.C. Bar’s Pro Bono Honor Roll.
